Definition of giftedness

There is currently no definition that is a consensus among the scientific community. There are several theoretical models to explain the phenomenon, but the concept is not completely defined. There is of course a definition of high intelligence quotient (HIQ), it is defined by a standardized IQ score of 130 which corresponds to 2 to 5% of the population according to the normal curve. However, in the case of gifted individuals with double exceptionality, the results are not always homogeneous and standard making the identification of HQI more complex. In addition, some theoretical models do not even refer to IQ for the identification of giftedness, even if in Quebec, the assessment is usually based largely on the results of a neuropsychological assessment which includes an IQ test.
